SAPHRA is the St Albans residents association covering Sopwell Lane, Albert Street, Pageant Road, Pearces Walk, Hart Road, Keyfield Terrace, Saracens Head Yard and The Ryder Seed Mews Estate. The association was originally set up in response to residents concerns over building developments, traffic, parking problems and crime in the area and our first Annual General Meeting was held on November 19th 1995.
It is SAPHRA's aim to find out the views of residents on local issues and to act as a pressure group in support of these views to ensure that the best is done for our area. From the results of our first survey of residents we initially concentrated on new property developments, traffic flow and parking, street lighting and Neighbourhood Watch.
We have made progress on all of these issues although, in common with much of central St. Albans, traffic flow and parking continue to cause problems in our area.
We are now endeavouring to foster community spirit by keeping residents informed on local issues via our newsletters, annual summer barbecue and other events. Our annual general meeting is held each September.
SAPHRA was set up so that the residents could have a voice. We need you to tell us what you think, so that we may best represent everyone. If you have any views or concerns about local issues please let us know. You can reach us through the Contact page, or join us at one of our meetings.
